The colour yellow as used here is because yellow ribbons were deemed to be the colour to remember the Black Saturday devastation and give hope for the survivors. The background fabric i've used here was made last year from the tiny scraps left after making the first of many quilts for the survivors and those who were affected by the fires. Jan Mac, a quilter from Victoria, started a quilt drive to try to make 7000+ quilts so that everyone who had been affected would receive a quilt from the heart from quilters across Australia and even overseas.
To date i think Jan has delivered 4500 quilts and another 2000 have been delivered by other agencies. Well done all who participated.

Such meaning in the BJP - thanks for sharing that. And I do love the little critter and am glad for the smile it gives your Mum!
Your colour combos in this post are really very nice. I'll be looking forward to a garden update as well.
ps you asked about my verandah.. I think it faces SE so is a cool spot. I think it wrapped around to the left but that has been built in to make the bathroom. That would have looked lovely but I do rather like having a bathroom!
Thanks Jenn and Sarah for your lovely comments. Sarah i'm really pleased to hear you have an internal bathroom in that interesting old house of yours, bit cold and embarrassing otherwise!
Oh, and btw, my bjp for February is a mirror image in profile to last month's. I'll do that every month so they will 'fit' better when placed side by side. cheers, Kaite
between the beads and the fabric, there is a lot of character to rosemarie! i remember hearing about those fires in australia...how devastating it was. i can't believe it's been a year already. i hope that the people and lands are becoming revitalized and overcoming such a terrible tragedy. what a wonderful tribute you made! nice job!
Rosemarie doesn't seem to know whether to smile or frown, it seems she's doing both. The devastation of the event she recalls bring the frown, and the rising up that came from it cause a semi-smile. So much meaning there! It's very touching and lovely.
Wonderful memorial to a horrific event. I like the look of beads on pieced fabric and the color choice w=is inspired.
Kaite, I find remembrance pieces to be even more meaningful as the years pass. I'm glad you were able to make this one. A million blessings on your lovely country!
Hi Kaite
Rosemary is beautifully beaded and I love the reason for creating her.
Your Prada grasshopper is very perky - once again terrific work has been done by you (and your mum).
Yes Barbara, Rosemarie has the classic tragic/comic face, smiling and moving forward but still grieving the past. I can't imagine how difficult it must be but i had to make February a tribute month. Thankyou all for your insightful comments. Kaite
Rosemarie is a wonderful tribute piece.
You and Mum have done a great job as usual.
Huggs to Both Terry
