As you can see, we're in the storms season, there's a double rainbow here and a very eery light.
Finally i succumbed and bought a poinsettia for the festive season. They are a tropical tree so they don't last long in the pot in Bathurst but they are beautiful and do remind me of childhood christmasses.
In the rain i went hunting for red plants this afternoon and found this new red dahlia which obliged by shining wetly at me as i photographed it.
Charlie is doing what dogs do best, introducing himself to the new chooky in the garden, even tho she was stone cold unaware of it.
And lastly a very welcome resident in my garden, the Australian paper wasp, who build such a lot of papery nests here in small bushes and under the eaves. I leave them alone to help clean up the garden of grubs and they leave me alone as i don't disturb their nests. You can find out more about them here. They are different to the European wasp which is an introduced species and a lot more aggressive, even tho they look similar. I have linked to the European wasp here. Thankyou all for your lovely comments on my last blog post about the littlest angel pods, i appreciated your interest and it was good to find out that there are others who are making similar wraps and garments for the littlest ones.

Hello Kaite, I was looking for patterns on the web yesterday for this type of wrap or garment. Thank-you for posting this one, I had also been knitting premmie hats to donate to the local hospitals. Could you please email me the cocoon pattern, it does look sweet. aty18975@bigpond.net.au I enjoy reading your blog. Hope you have a lovely Christmas and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do in the New Year. Regards Anne
I never realized how much Charlie and my Lola look alike. Very similar patterns of color. Glad you have some helpers for the garden. :)
Merry Christmas Kaite.
Thanks for sharing more of your lovely plants.
Anne i haven't written it out yet, it's still in my memory box, but i'll do so more quickly now that someone has asked for it.
Deb i think my little Charlie and your lovely Lola would see each other in their reflections.
Merry christmas to you too Carol.
Did you find the pot of gold at teh end of the rainbow? Charlie looks pretty interested in the chook! Do you suppose that he knows it's not real. Anyway, it looks pretty old to be new. Is there a story? What do you do with poinsettas after the holiday season? We throw them out!! Do you plant them?
My first thought when I saw Charlie & the chicken was how it is a convenient height to 'christen'. Ooops! Wasp nest are such a beautiful creation.
