presents in the New Year

Don't you just love giving and receiving presents......i know i do.

These pressies (above) arrived last week all the way from Toronto, Canada. Anne Marie and i have an annual, sometimes biannual, swap of calendars, a card, one nice wearable or useable and other odds and sods. So, what have we here, from top left: an Ontario calendar, a tiny exquisite piece of old embroidery medallion, a christmas/new year collage card, a half size collaged FPC (love your collages AMD), a tricky little needle and pin holder that looks like a match folder, a gorgeous mobius scarf made from fabric strips and FMing, such a creative and spectacular idea, 2 beautiful brooches or pins made from altered dominos, and 2 of the most beautiful buttons. These buttons are replicas of wonderful old European glass buttons and i am so lucky to have them. Thankyou Anne Marie, i do hope your parcel arrives today.

This year we co-ordinated posting dates but unfortunately mine to her hasn't arrived yet, boohoo, so i can't show you what i sent.

Instead i'll show you a close-up of Mum's knitted fabric basket which i made for her birthday. I made it from leftovers of other baskets and quilting, i'm really happy with how it turned out. I never know when i start, they have a life of their own these knitted fabric baskets.

Someone asked for a close-up of Mum's cards and gifts from Saturday, on the left at the front is a clever handheld puzzle, one of Escher's designs and of course the obligatory large key mobile phone on the right. I love the card which says FRIEND, it was made and sent from her lovely old friend Joyce in Victoria - she is over 90!! a very creative lady.

A detail pic of Anne Marie's brooches, collaged onto dominos or other playing pieces, so clever. i wore mine today (top) and Mum loves hers, very pretty and intricate.

Scroll down to the end of the page, you'll see my fish have swum away and instead there is a dog you can play with. Have fun with him, he doesn't bite but he likes you to throw the ball and feed him treats. cheers, enjoy your week everyone.

So nice to see what I sent right up there on your blog! I'm glad you posted because I forgot to take photos before I mailed your envelope. The hexagon pin that I made for your Mum is a game piece. Yours is a little canvas covered piece of wood. I purchased four or five, several years back, thinking that they would make nice presents. Now I wish that I had purchased their entire inventory. The little collages are so much fun to do!!

My envelope from you is still in never-never postal land, so here's hoping it arrives sometime this week.
