I made it for Anne Marie for our annual parcel of goodies swap, which i referred to a few days ago. AMD has finally received it, i think the mail to Can has been a touch slow this year. Anyway, it's another knitted fabric strip basket, and i chose fabric which has colours that i know she likes and it was loose weave so the colours showed thru on both sides, that's important if you plan on trying it yourself.
And now on to the rainy Australia day, also known as Survival Day and Sovereignty Day. I won't say any more on that for now except that it is also the 40th anniversary of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra.
What do you do on a rainy public holiday - well knit another premmie beanie of course, and this time it's a swirl beanie, cute eh! and just so there's no confusion here, these tiny beanies are for babies born prematurely who have to spend some time in the baby version of Intensive Care. Do you want the pattern? email me and i'll send it. Easier than typing it out.

Yum...that muffin base recipe sounds lovely Kaite....thanks for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteI love your knitted fabric basket, such a lovely shape. I have crocheted a fabric basket, but never knitted on. I think I would like to try that too.
Sunshine on Australia Day down here in Victoria. Your gardens must be lush with all of that rain!
Jacky xox
Jacky it sure is, and i make the mini muffins. Not much sunshine here today, grey with fairy rain. Thanks for the compliment re the basket, go ahead and try one.
ReplyDeleteWell, I see a rainy day energizes you too. Gosh your garden is beautiful. I was looking out my kitchen window yesterday at the pond. My snapdragons are still green! We have had very little snow this year. Though we have had some freezing days, our temps have mostly been in the upper 30s and low 40s.
ReplyDeleteGlad iAM that it finally arrived! It's wonderfully soft and the colours are simply fabulous! It's been a strange summer for you and winter for us. Lots of rain for you and little snow for us. The weather it is a changing!!!
ReplyDeleteCarol a mild winter for you, like our mild summer.
ReplyDeleteAM, the weather certainly does seem to be a-changing

Nancy yes it is all a bit yummy, the swirl is almost edible
Though not a knitter (yet), I love your blog and all the beautiful projects you complete, and your grand garden too. I think I'll try those lovely muffins this coming weekend. Oh, it's rainy and warm in NYC for January. I know about the indigenous tent from several sources. The news swings around the world so fast these days. Glad you posted it. Much love
ReplyDeleteWas a bit grey here but managed not to rain which was good as we'd weeded and feeded the lawn and done some painting.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking so great. It must be such a joy for you :)
Look at those muffins! Bought more seed yesterday, including quinioa which I've never grown. Hoping to get out and work in the garden tomorrow now that the snow and high winds are gone for the moment.
ReplyDeleteThe basket is gorgeous! Thank you also for the advice you gave me in a recent email, on knitting with fabric.
ReplyDeleteThe muffins look delicious. My friend has a gluten free diet so perhaps I'll try and make her some.
ReplyDeleteOh Wow that knitted fabric basket is fabulous!!! Are they hard to make? I would LOVE to have one of these! And your muffins sound scrumptious---and your garden is beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a riot of colour in the basket - gorgeous and perfect to see on a dull rainy day.
